Bahía de Caráquez is a coastal city in the Manabí province of Ecuador, located at the mouth of the Chone River. The kitesurfing spot is in the bay, offering protected flat water conditions. Prevailing winds blow from the southwest during the dry season (May to December), with intensities of 12 to 20 knots. The bay offers natural protection from ocean waves, creating ideal conditions for flatwater sailing. The spot is suitable for beginners and intermediates thanks to the flat water in the bay. Watch out for currents at falling tide near the river mouth.
