Ocean spot within Monterey Bay with waves of 0.3 to 1.5m. Water is cold (10-15°C/50-59°F), a 4/3 wetsuit is recommended year-round. Sandy bottom. The bay offers partial protection from northwest swells. Moderate currents. Frequent kelp offshore. Abundant marine life (otters, seals, dolphins).

Hazards

Cold water — full wetsuit necessary year-round. Dense kelp that can tangle in lines and fins. Great white sharks present in Monterey Bay. Drift currents along the coast. Frequent fog suddenly reducing visibility. Marine protected area — respect wildlife (sea otters in particular). Rocks at certain points along the beach.
