Silver Strand State Beach is a kitesurfing spot located on the Silver Strand isthmus connecting Coronado to Imperial Beach in the San Diego Bay area, California. This long, narrow strip of sand offers unique access to both the Pacific Ocean on the west side and San Diego Bay on the east. West to northwest thermal winds blow regularly in the afternoon. The spot is popular for its accessible conditions and year-round sunny climate.

Moderate shore break. The option to ride on the bay side offers a flat-water alternative on big ocean swell days.
Proximity to North Island Naval Air Station — restricted zones to strictly respect. Military air traffic — stay alert. Drift currents along the beach. Silver Strand Training Complex military zone to the south. Occasional jellyfish in warm waters. Stingrays in shallow waters — shuffle your feet.
