Ocean beach spot with waves of 0.5 to 2m depending on Pacific swell. Water is cool (12-17°C/54-63°F), a 4/3 or 3/2 wetsuit is recommended. Sandy and gradually deepening bottom. Moderate to powerful shore break depending on swell. Wide riding area offshore with few obstacles. Northwest thermal winds are reliable from March through October.
Frequent rip currents, especially on big swell days. Powerful shore break can make entries and exits difficult. Cool water — wetsuit necessary. Frequent coastal fog can suddenly reduce visibility. Busy swimming area during summer season. Pismo Pier nearby — maintain a safe distance.
