Katherine's Landing is a kitesurf spot on Lake Mohave, a Colorado River reservoir in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area on the Arizona-Nevada border. The long, narrow lake is set in a spectacular desert canyon. Thermal winds blow consistently in the afternoon, channeled by the canyon walls. Crystal-clear turquoise water year-round. Main season from April to October with extreme summer temperatures. Boat ramp and marina available.

Crystal-clear turquoise freshwater. Water temperature from 12°C in winter to 27°C in summer. Narrow lake (1-3 km wide) set in a canyon. Moderate chop in strong winds channeled by the canyon. Current possible from Colorado River flow. Shorty or rashguard sufficient in summer, 3/2 wetsuit recommended in spring/fall.
Extreme summer heat (45°C+): heat stroke and dehydration risk — bring plenty of water. Heavy motorboat traffic in summer, especially weekends. Narrow canyon creating gusts and venturi effects. Rocks and cliffs along shoreline. Rattlesnakes in launch area. Colorado River current in some sections. National Recreation Area entrance fee required.
