Spot functioning

Levante ONLY. This spot exists for one thing: massive jumps and extreme riding in strong offshore Levante. Flat water, clean swell kickers arriving regularly from the Atlantic, 20-40+ kts of warm wind. The kite videos you've seen of riders getting launched 20m into the air? That's here.

Poniente: the beach works but conditions are similar to the rest of Los Lances.

On the water

FLAT. Levante offshore flattens everything. Clean, regular Atlantic swell kickers arrive as perfect ramps for massive jumps. Turquoise water. Deep from shore. The best big-air conditions in Europe. 15-17°C winter, 18-22°C summer. Strong currents.

Parking

Several parkings along Tarifa town. Walk from the old town to the Balneario. Right at the beginning of Los Lances beach, closest to Isla de Tarifa (the southernmost point of continental Europe).

Hazards

⚠️ EXPERT ONLY — NO EXCEPTIONS.
⚠️ Offshore wind — Levante blows from land to sea. One mistake = drift towards Africa/Morocco.
⚠️ NO rescue boats at Balneario — you're on your own.
⚠️ Strong currents — Strait of Gibraltar. Very powerful drift.
⚠️ Maximum 15 kitesurfers allowed at any time. Respect the locals.
⚠️ "Respect the locals" — this is the pros' training ground. Know the rules, ask before entering.
⚠️ Gusty, strong, dangerous — 20-40+ knots common. Town buildings create turbulence.

Wind specificities

LEVANTE (E) — THE wind. Pure offshore. 20-40+ kts. Strong, more regular than at Los Lances (less building turbulence as you're right at the point). Warm. Flat water with clean kickers. The most extreme kite conditions in Europe. Kites 5-9m.

⚠️ No rescue, no safety net, no margin for error. If you have to ask if you should kite here, the answer is no.
