Skæring Strand is a spot north of Aarhus, on the east coast of Jutland facing the Kattegat. Sheltered beach ideal for beginners and freestyle, with flat and shallow waters over a vast riding area. The uniform sandy bottom extends far from shore with gradual depth.
Open all year round
Beginner
Flat and shallow Kattegat waters. Uniform sandy bottom with occasional stones and seaweed areas. Chop increases in sustained east/northeast winds. Clean and clear water. Ideal for freeride and freestyle.
Stones and rocks on the seabed in places. A long rip channel with large stones extends several hundred metres from Skæring Bæk to Egå Marina — area to avoid. Shifting sandbars with variable depths. Maritime traffic in the Kattegat — watch for ferries and ships. Swimmers in summer.
