Stanley Hellfire is a kitesurfing spot located on the northwest coast of Tasmania, at Stanley. The name "Hellfire" evokes the powerful conditions that can prevail on this section of coast exposed to the winds and swells of Bass Strait.
The dominant wind comes from the west to northwest in summer. Conditions can be powerful with strong waves and sustained wind. The bottom is a mix of sand and reef. Currents can be strong.
The spot is reserved for advanced to expert riders due to the powerful conditions. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is necessary. Stanley offers accommodation and amenities. The Nut, the volcanic headland, is the iconic landmark of the village.
