Port Sorell Sand Bar is a kitesurfing spot located on the north coast of Tasmania, at the mouth of the Rubicon River. The sand bar creates a shallow and flat water area, ideal for freestyle and learning. The prevailing wind comes from the west to northwest in summer. The sand bar offers exceptional shallow flat water conditions at low tide. Conditions change significantly with the tides. The water is cold but conditions are safe. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suitable for beginners thanks to the sand bar and shallow water. Watch out for currents in the channel. Port Sorell is a village with basic amenities. It is one of the best learning spots in Tasmania.
