Pohara is a kitesurfing spot located in Golden Bay, Tasman region, on the South Island of New Zealand. This golden sand beach is near Wainui Bay and benefits from the same north and northwest thermal wind conditions characteristic of Golden Bay. The spot offers relatively calm and shallow waters. The prevailing winds come from the north and northwest, typically between 10 and 20 knots. The spot is suitable for beginner to intermediate kitesurfers thanks to the sheltered bay waters. The beach offers good launching space. It is an excellent complement to Wainui Bay for exploring the different conditions of Golden Bay.
