Hearsons Cove is a kitesurfing spot located in the Karratha/Dampier area, in the Pilbara, Western Australia. This cove offers a partially sheltered body of water in a unique industrial-natural setting, with the gas facilities of the Burrup Peninsula in the background and Aboriginal petroglyphs nearby. The prevailing winds follow the southeast trade wind pattern during the dry season (April to October). Tides are very significant in this region (up to 6 metres), dramatically transforming conditions. The spot is suitable for intermediate riders. Access is from Karratha/Dampier. Parking is available. Watch out for extreme tides, possible saltwater crocodiles and jellyfish in season. Check cyclone alerts during the wet season.
