Mortimer Bay is a kitesurfing spot located south of Hobart in Tasmania, in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. This sheltered bay offers flat to slightly choppy water conditions, ideal for freestyle and learning. The prevailing wind comes from the northwest to west in summer. The bay offers good protection from swell and conditions are relatively calm. The water is shallow and the bottom is sandy to muddy. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suitable for beginners and intermediate riders. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is required. Parking available nearby. It is a good alternative spot when conditions are too strong on exposed beaches.
