Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach

Overview

Seven Mile Beach is a major kitesurfing spot located near Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. It is one of the most popular and accessible kitesurfing spots on the island, situated between Hobart Airport and the beach. The long stretch of sand offers excellent conditions for all levels. The prevailing wind comes from the northwest to west in summer, blowing cross-shore on this southeast-facing beach. Waves are moderate in Frederick Henry Bay. The bottom is sandy and the beach is very long (about 11 km), offering considerable space. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suitable for beginners and intermediate riders. The water is cold (14-18 degrees C), a thick wetsuit is required. Seven Mile Beach is easily accessible from Hobart with parking, showers and amenities. It is the reference spot for the Hobart kite community.
