Fourmile Beach is the main kitesurfing spot in Port Douglas, in northern Queensland. This long sandy beach offers an exceptional tropical setting between the Daintree rainforest and the Coral Sea, with the Great Barrier Reef offshore. The spot works with the southeast trade winds from May to November, with consistent 15-25 knot winds. At low tide, sandbars create flat water zones. The beach is long and open. Suitable for intermediate to advanced riders. Beware of jellyfish (stingers) from November to May. Saltwater crocodiles are present. Port Douglas offers excellent restaurants and accommodation. An ideal spot to combine kitesurfing with Great Barrier Reef excursions.
