Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy is a kitesurfing spot on the west coast of Sakhalin Island, in the Tatar Strait (Sea of Japan). The town is one of the oldest on the island, in the northern part.
The west coast offers sandy beaches exposed to prevailing west and northwest winds from the Tatar Strait. The water body is open with chop.
Season is very short due to northern latitude, July to early September. Water is very cold (8-16°C), thick wetsuit essential. Remote spot for experienced riders, limited infrastructure on site.
