Kitesurf spot on Lac de la Ganguise (11/31), a 270 ha artificial lake in the Lauragais, 50 km from Toulouse (30 min via A61), near Belflou. The lake's natural NW/SE corridor channels both the Tramontane and the Autan, making this the go-to spot for Toulouse riders when wind is up. Launch from the private grounds of Auberge "Le Cathare" — graciously made available to riders by the owner. Kite is only authorised in this zone; most of the rest of the lake is off-limits. From the Cathare, cross to the lake on foot. Launch from a large sloping field. Access: A61 towards Carcassonne, Villefranche-de-Lauragais, D622 to Gardouch, D625, then D33 to Saint-Michel-de-Lanès — well signposted. Website: ganguise.com.

Many submerged dead trees in front of the launch zone — visible at low water, invisible when level is high. Very strong gusts possible (Autan venturi effect can reach 45 kt+). Wind is irregular due to surrounding hills — rapid shifts and local dead zones. Sloping launch terrain — be careful during ground manoeuvres. Canadair operations: when sirens sound, exit the water immediately and wait 1 hour before returning. Access: private land of the Auberge "Le Cathare" — kite zone tolerated, greet the owner.
Strong venturi effect in both directions. SE/E (Autan): strongest and most characteristic — accelerated to 25–30 kt routinely, gusts over 45 kt recorded. Very choppy water. NW (Tramontane): also strong, flatter water. This is often the first inland spot to receive the Tramontane — useful when the coast is still becalmed. Wind is NOT stable — terrain-induced lulls and gusts are constant. Expert/advanced level only.
