Rethymno is a historic town on the north coast of Crete, between Chania and Heraklion. The long sand beach stretching east of the Venetian old town faces north, receiving the Meltemi onshore. It's one of Crete's most beautiful towns with rich architectural heritage.
The spot offers reliable wind conditions in summer with the classic north Cretan coast Meltemi. The urban beach is very busy but long enough to find sailing space.
Launching from the sand beach east of town, away from the busiest swimming zone. Respect marked areas. The seafront is heavily developed (parasols, sunbeds) – look for free space.
Works from June to September. Foiling suited for moderate wind days.
Open water with onshore chop. Waves possible in sustained Meltemi. Sandy bottom, progressive depth. Sea of Crete water, 23-26°C in summer.

Parking in Rethymno town. Numerous parking options along the seafront (paid in town center). Complete tourist infrastructure. Venetian old town worth visiting.

Onshore Meltemi from N/NNE, typically 15-22 knots from June to September. Wind may shift slightly to NE in this section of coast. Reliable and consistent conditions, similar to the entire north Cretan coast.
Thermal reinforcement in the afternoon. Wind may decrease late in the day. Good consistency in peak summer (July-August).
