Kremasti is a kitesurfing and windsurfing spot on the northwest coast of Rhodes, marking the southern end of the famous Ixia-Ialissos-Trianda windy corridor. This coastal village offers the same Meltemi conditions as its northern neighbors, with the advantage of being slightly less crowded. The pebble and sand beach benefits from direct west exposure to the Meltemi. Kremasti is also known for its international airport located right next to it — watch for low flight paths.
Kremasti works with the NW Meltemi side-onshore. Open riding area with chop. Fewer water sports centers than the Ixia/Trianda zone but some schools present. Less crowded sailing area. Conditions for intermediate riders. Works from June to September.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Aegean Sea, 22-26°C in summer. 2mm shorty or lycra. Pebble/sand bottom. Moderate to strong chop depending on Meltemi. Moderate current southward along the coast.
Parking along the coastal road in Kremasti and village streets. Less parking pressure than at Ixia/Trianda. Proximity to Rhodes international airport — easy access for travelers.
NW to W Meltemi, side-onshore on this west coast. Same conditions as the Ixia-Trianda corridor to the north: 18-28 knots in summer, gusts to 30+. Possible slight attenuation compared to spots further north due to distance from the main Venturi effect. Classic cycle: building at noon, peaking in afternoon. Season June to September.
Low flight paths from Rhodes airport — NEVER fly a kite too high and watch for aircraft. Strong wind 25-30+ knots. Significant chop. Pebbles on the beach. Coastal current. Strong sun exposure.
