Golden Beach (Chrysi Akti) is the big sister of New Golden Beach, located just south on the east coast of Paros. This iconic beach hosted the PWA Windsurfing World Championships for many years, establishing its worldwide reputation. The N/NNE Meltemi channeled in the Paros-Naxos canal delivers powerful and consistent side-shore conditions. The golden sand beach is longer than New Golden Beach, with more sailing space.
Golden Beach works like New Golden Beach with the side-shore Meltemi. Professional water sports centers. Large beach offering plenty of space. Strong chop in the channel. Side-shore wind requiring good upwind technique. Works from June to September.
Paros-Naxos channel waters, 22-26°C. 2mm shorty or lycra. Sandy bottom. Strong to very strong chop. Current in the channel.
Intermediate
Open all year round
Parking along the coastal road. Water sports centers with dedicated spaces. Access from inland villages or the east coast road.
Very strong wind 25-30+ knots. Side-shore pushing toward Naxos. Significant chop. Current in the channel. Nautical traffic. Strong sun exposure.
Conditions nearly identical to New Golden Beach — N/NNE Meltemi channeled side-shore at 20-30 knots. The Paros-Naxos canal accelerates wind very reliably. Wind arrives slightly more from the left (NNE) than further north on the coast. Historic spot for windsurfing world championships — perfect conditions for performance. Season from June to September.
