Tingaki is an ideal spot for beginners on the north coast of Kos, midway between Kos Town and Mastichari. This long fine sand beach benefits from incredibly shallow water for several hundred meters, creating perfect conditions for learning kitesurfing. The Meltemi blows onshore from the north, ensuring safety for beginners who are always pushed back to the beach. Tingaki is one of the most popular spots on Kos for kite lessons, with several schools set up on the beach.
Tingaki is the quintessential school spot on Kos. The extremely shallow water (50cm over 200m+) creates a safe riding area where beginners can stand everywhere. The onshore N/NNW wind systematically brings riders back to the beach. Kite schools occupy dedicated zones with enough space between them. Advanced riders sail further out where the chop is more pronounced. The long beach offers tremendous space. Works from June to September.
Turquoise Aegean Sea water, 22-26°C in summer. Lycra often sufficient in peak season, 2mm shorty if needed. Perfectly flat sandy bottom, barely ankle-deep water for the first 100 meters. Further out, gradual depth with moderate chop. Very reassuring conditions for learning. Clear water with good visibility.

Large free parking at Tingaki, easily accessible from the main Kos Town - Mastichari road. Several beach access points with roadside parking spaces. Hotels and restaurants along the beach also offer parking. Good general accessibility even in high season.
Generally very safe spot. High traffic in peak season with many swimmers and tourists — respect swimming zones. Meltemi can build to 25+ knots, challenging for true beginners in such conditions. Watch for windsurfers and other water users. Strong sun exposure — sun protection and hydration essential. Some sea urchins possible in certain bottom areas.
Tingaki receives the Meltemi directly from N/NNW, onshore on this north coast. Wind is steady and well established in summer thanks to direct exposure to the Aegean Meltemi. Typical strength of 15-25 knots, slightly lighter than Mastichari (less pronounced Venturi effect with Kalymnos). Wind usually picks up around 11am, peaks between 2pm and 5pm, then eases in the evening. Reliable conditions from June to September. The onshore direction is ideal for beginners — wind always brings you back to the beach.
