La Marana is a wind sports spot located on the Lido de la Marana, a sandy barrier lagoon 5 km south of Bastia, fringed with pine trees and sandy beaches. It is one of the few spots easily accessible from Corsica's northern capital.
The beach stretches for several hundred metres in a relatively natural setting, with shallow water near the shoreline — ideal for beginners and riders progressing their skills. Expect chop and small waves depending on conditions.
⚠️ The kite launch area is limited. In summer, beach crowds can reduce the available space significantly. Best months are June, July and August, with regular afternoon thermals.
Spot information partly managed by the Corsikite association. Club Nautique Bastiais operates on the lido (Tombulu Biancu beach at Furiani) for wingfoil and other water sports.

From Bastia, take the N193 heading south, then follow signs for Étang de Biguglia and Lido de la Marana. Parking is available near the beach (main access at the U Pinu sign, southern end of the N107). The access track can be rough.
Limited launch area: The kite launching space is restricted. Extra vigilance is required, especially in summer when the beach is busy with swimmers.
Offshore winds: West sector winds are offshore on this east-facing beach. Do not ride in these conditions.
No lifeguard: Swimming is not supervised over most of the beach.
The spot works mainly on two wind directions: North-East (Gregale) and an afternoon South-East thermal that builds most days in summer from around 1pm.
Wind can be gusty at times. The Biguglia lagoon, just behind the beach barrier, may influence local wind behaviour.
