Small freshwater kitesurf spot on Lac de Jouarres (11/34), a leisure lake near Olonzac, at the foot of the Minervois hills, close to the Canal du Midi and the Port of Homps. Access from Homps, Pépieux or Olonzac. Sandy/grassy beach with pine grove. Swimming supervised July–August. When coastal Tramontane is nuclear at Leucate, Jouarres receives wind 2 Beaufort less — useful fallback in that corridor. Windsurf and sailing club (Club Nautique de Jouarrès) on site. Contact: tourisme@minervois-caroux.com.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Located in the Tramontane corridor. NW is the dominant useful direction — wind arrives weakened compared to the coast but still usable. A bit gusty due to surrounding hills. Best used as a fallback when Tramontane is too strong at Leucate or Barcarès.
Spot is about 40 km inland — acts as a buffer when coastal Tramontane is too extreme. Wind is still gusty and from the terrain. Windsurfing and sailing are the primary activities; kitesurf is possible but the lake is relatively small (65,000 m²). Swimming zone in summer (July–August supervised). Contact the Club Nautique de Jouarrès for access conditions.
