Canet-Plage Nord — North part of Canet-en-Roussillon beach, towards Sainte-Marie-la-Mer. Wide sandy beach. Less structured than Canet-Plage Sud for kite, but works with the same winds.
Same exceptional SE thermal regime as Canet Sud. The thermal enters well here from the south, building in the afternoon. Less crowded than the southern spots. By Tramontane: same offshore risk as all Canet spots.
Good option when Canet Sud or Pont des Basses are too crowded. Centre d'entraînement olympique Europa (Olympic pool) nearby.
Canet Kite Club (CKC) — Local association. We Love Kite — Year-round school. Wake Air Contest — Annual wakeboard competition held in May at Canet.
Open all year round
Sailing year-round. Less regulated than Canet-Plage Sud but same municipal regulation applies. Best: summer thermal SE (June-September).
Intermediate
Sandy bottom. Same conditions as Canet-Plage Sud — choppy by thermal, flat by Tramontane (offshore). Less wave action than near the southern digue. Water 14-16°C winter, 20-25°C summer.
Parking along the promenade north of Canet. Less crowded than southern spots.
Thermal S/SE: same exceptional Canet regime. Builds afternoon, 15-20 kts typical, up to 25-30 kts. Tramontane NW: offshore, dangerous. Same advice as Canet Sud — fall back to étang de Salses by Tramontane.
Tramontane offshore: extremely strong and gusty, pushes to sea. Not recommended without safety boat. Digue: waves build against breakwater — keep distance. Summer crowds: heavily touristic area, many swimmers. Ganivelles: wooden posts, careful when handling kites.
