Phare de la Coubre is a kitesurf spot at the Pointe de la Coubre (Charente-Maritime), the wild cape at the northern tip of the Côte Sauvage, north of Royan. This exposed point catches winds from North, South-West, North-West and North-North-West — the classic biaxial pattern of a cape on the Atlantic coast.
Tidal spot. The Pointe de la Coubre is one of the most exposed points on the French Atlantic coast — strong and gusty winds, significant currents in the Gironde estuary mouth nearby. Experienced riders recommended. The Phare de la Coubre lighthouse is a landmark of this wild coast.
