The Baie de Douarnenez, one of the most beautiful bays in Brittany, offers an exceptional kitesurf playground — 10km across, sheltered from the Atlantic swell by the Cap Sizun headland to the south. Several access points around the bay depending on wind direction. FFVL-labelled spot. Kitesardin School is based here.
SE and E winds produce offshore conditions — always ride with an experienced buddy or motorised assistance in these sectors. Superb views of the bay while riding.
Spot labelled FFVL. Kitesardin School (Philippe) — itinerant kitesurf and wingfoil school based in the Baie de Douarnenez.
Multiple access points around the bay. Parking along the seafront throughout. Best launch zones: Douarnenez town beach (north shore), Tréboul beach (west), Kervel (south shore, ideal for school lessons).
NW to N wind: Douarnenez north shore or Kervel — wide launch area, side-onshore. E to SE wind: offshore — use Tréboul or consult locals before riding.

Open all year round
SE and E winds create offshore conditions — do not venture alone without motorised assistance in these sectors. The bay is large and return against the wind can be exhausting.
Paragliders from the cliffs, surf, char à voile, sailing, and kayaks: busy bay, respect all users. Wetsuit required year-round.
The Baie de Douarnenez is navigable in almost all wind directions. Best sectors:
Thermal winds are less reliable here than on the open coast — the bay can drop suddenly. Wind tends to increase as you move further from shore.
