Kalamion is a kitesurfing spot on the north coast of Crete, between Chania and Rethymno. The north-facing beach receives the Meltemi directly onshore. A less touristy spot than Platanias, offering more tranquility.
Conditions are typical of the north Cretan coast: onshore Meltemi from N/NNW, choppy water, sailing accessible to intermediates.
Launching from the beach. Less crowded than Platanias or Rethymno, more space for sailing. No kite school on site. Works from June to September.

Open water with onshore chop. Sandy bottom. Progressive depth. Sea of Crete water, clear and warm.
Parking along the coastal road. Less touristically developed area – a few tavernas nearby. Nearby villages for basic services.
Onshore Meltemi from N/NNW, 15-22 knots from June to September. Reliable and consistent conditions. Wind is well established by early afternoon.
Coastal current possible in sustained wind. No permanent supervision. Bring safety equipment.
