Hazards

Archipelago of Lilia — very dense rocks and reefs: islands Vierge, Wrac'h, Stagadon, Vénan, Valan, Térc'h. Reconnoitre at low tide before first session. Large tidal range >8m, strong tidal currents in the channels. Goémon everywhere. Zone with significant maritime traffic (vedettes, fishing boats, sailing boats heading for Île Vierge). Île Vierge lighthouse is 1.4km offshore — do not approach the access channel without checking conditions. North Finistère: intermediate/advanced riders only. Never ride alone.

Wind specificities

N/NW/W ideal arc. S/SSW also favourable but more gusty (land behind). 200+ navigable days/year thanks to Celtic Sea depressions. Summer: light 8-15kt — foil/large kites recommended. Spring NE thermal provides bonus days. Large tidal range (>8m) strongly affects conditions: check tide tables before every session. Offshore currents increase with distance from shore.
