Siouville is Normandy's most renowned surf and kitesurf spot, known for over 30 years. A beautiful sandy beach nestled between the exceptional Biville dune massif and the Flamanville cape rocks, it is particularly well exposed to long Atlantic swells. Awarded "Surf City – 2 stars" in 2017 and 2018.
For kitesurfers, SW to NW winds deliver powerful waves — reserved for experienced riders. The rock headland of Platé to the south protects the spot from frequent south winds, making Siouville one of Normandy's most consistent spots. Strong tidal range: the beach is tighter at high tide — move north for more space. Best conditions at falling tide.
Expert-level spot for kite, suitable for experienced wave riders and freestylers. Coexistence with surfers and windsurfers is essential.
Pôle Nautique de la Hague (PNH) — kitesurf and wingfoil school operating on multiple Cotentin spots (Siouville, Urville-Nacqueville, Vauville). Groups of 1-3, April to November. polenautiquehague.com

Spot labeled FFVL.
From Cherbourg: take D37 direction Les Pieux, then left on D4 to Siouville-Hague. From Caen: exit at Valognes, direction Briquebec then Les Pieux. Descent via a small cliff to access the beach.
At high tide, the usable beach shortens — move north. In summer, kitesurf is forbidden in the swimming zone (red-yellow flags) and in the surf school zone (coloured lycras). Respect all users and priority rules.

Highly frequented spot — surfeurs, windsurfers, kitesurfers coexist. Respect priority rules strictly. Fishers set up paillots at low tide — watch for lines. At high tide, the beach becomes shorter — move north for more space. At low tide, beware of the submerged metal cage, signalled by a buoy, in the wave zone.
The Raz Blanchard at Cap de la Hague — the most powerful current in Europe — is less than 10 km away. Strong currents always present, sometimes violent depending on tidal coefficient. Forbidden to ride in the swimming zone (summer) and in the surf school zone (year-round, marked).
Best conditions: SW to NW (main swell and wind window). With SW, gusty wind but beautiful waves — the further south the wind veers, the more irregular it becomes. NW to W brings the most consistent conditions with the best wave quality. Northern N winds also work. The Platé headland to the south naturally blocks southerly winds, giving extra consistency.
At large coefficients, waves can be impressive at low tide — expert only. On falling tide, generally the best moment: waves are more organized and less powerful. Easterly offshore wind: good for groomed waves, but navigation requires experience given the powerful tidal currents nearby.
