Overview

Baie de Gatseau is a kitesurf spot on the south coast of the Ile d'Oléron facing the Pertuis de Maumusson, the notorious tidal passage between Oléron and the mainland. The bay is sheltered from the Atlantic swell and works well in northeast wind. Beware of the very strong tidal currents of the Maumusson passage — advanced knowledge of local conditions essential.
