Barfleur is one of the most beautiful villages in France and a remarkable kitesurf spot at the tip of the Cotentin Val de Saire coast. Set near the fishing harbour and historic church, the spot works with SW, W, NW and N winds. The CNPS club describes it as "multidimensional": flat water at low tide, small waves at mid tide, strong freeride by NW.
Launch from the cale (boat ramp) in front of the école de voile, targeting low tide ±2 hours. NE is inappropriate (too much wave); S creates too much wind shadow. Best conditions: SW and W (speed/freeride), NW and N (freeride). Rocks at the edges — stay in the clear water zone. Spectacular setting with the Gatteville lighthouse visible from the water. CNPS community monitors the spot.

Access: Parking Chemin de la Masse, 50760 Gatteville-le-Phare. Launch from the cale in front of the sailing school. Prefer low tide ±2 hours — at high tide there is very little beach space. Rocks border the riding area — check the current riding zone with locals or the CNPS before your first session.

Numerous rocks around the beach edge — stay in the marked riding area. Watch out for fishing pots (casiers) in the water. Strong current at sea — the Raz de Barfleur is 8 km away. Very little space to launch at high tide (beach covered). SW and SE winds: too much wind shadow (dévente) — don't venture far. NE not recommended (too much wave for the spot configuration). Respect local fishermen and residents.
SW and W: speed and freeride — the best directions for this spot. NW and N: nice freeride, small to medium waves. NE: not recommended — too much wave for the spot geometry. S and SE: wind shadow, not practical. Rocks around the beach edges require staying in the clear water zone. Best at low tide ±2 hours.
