Penhors is a kitesurf and surf spot on the commune of Pouldreuzic, in the heart of the Baie d'Audierne. Wide west-facing sandy beach exposed to Atlantic swell. Located 10km north of La Torche, it's the ideal alternative when La Torche is too crowded or too big — conditions are more manageable and far less busy, with a similar wind window.
Dominant northwest to southwest wind (NW thermal in summer, Atlantic depressions the rest of the year). Intermediate level — consistent waves, rip currents (baïnes) to monitor. Spot managed by the Be Good'N'Ride association.
Spot managed by the Be Good'N'Ride association (Penmarc'h). Rules and local orders available at begoodnride.bzh.
Access from Pouldreuzic towards Penhors / Plage. Penhors car park accessible from the D156. Launch between the two lifeguard posts, using these access points: Plovan village towards beach — Stang ar Liou — char à voile club — Penhors lifeguard post.
Launch and landing strictly forbidden from car parks (not public domain) and protected natural areas (dune fences / ganivelles). Rig and derig on the beach only.
In summer: respect marked bathing zones. Off-season: free access along the whole beach.
Sandy beach break with consistent waves from 0.3m to 2m depending on swell and season. Generally more forgiving than La Torche — a good spot for intermediate wave riding progression. At low tide: wide beach, good sandbars, calmer zones available. At high tide: shorebreak, reduced beach width.
Baïnes (rip currents) present — inspect the beach at low tide before riding. Moderate lateral currents. Entirely sandy bottom.

Baïnes (rip currents) — lateral currents can be strong, particularly on the mid-falling tide. Inspect the beach before riding.
Launch forbidden from car parks and protected natural areas (dune fences) — mandatory rule. Natura 2000 dune habitat, very fragile.
Never ride alone. Beach lifeguard supervision in July-August (SDIS) — respect all marked zones.
The Baie d'Audierne has good exposure to winds from north through southwest. Best conditions:
The spot works best at low to mid-falling tide. At high tide the beach narrows and shorebreak increases. The NW thermal is reliable May to September, building from 11am–noon and holding into the evening.
