Iconic Vercors snowkite spot, located on the vast Autrans-Méaudre plain at around 1020 m altitude. The plateau is huge and open, with several riding areas: Les Tranchants, Le Marais and La Mère Belle (Méaudre side, also called La Dune du Claret by paragliders). La Mère Belle offers excellent slope soaring in west wind. Autrans is one of the most popular spots in the Grenoble area, ideal for beginners in north to northwest wind. Possible west thermal in late February. 30 min from Grenoble. Snowkite school: Vercorspirit (Ludovic Arnaud), FFVL club-school. FFVL labeled spot. Note: spot not recommended in summer, respect farmers' hay fields.
Access: from Grenoble via Sassenage, Lans en Vercors then Autrans. Take the old road towards Méaudre, spot on the plain to the left. Les Tranchants: main area, vast open plain. La Mère Belle: Méaudre side, excellent for slope soaring in west wind. Le Marais: complementary area. Respect cross-country ski tracks, skiers and dog sleds. From Grenoble via Sassenage, Lans en Vercors, Autrans. Take the old road towards Méaudre, spot on the plain to the left. Park at the designated parking near the spot. Note: during the Foulée Blanche event (February), everything is blocked with barriers on the Autrans side — access via Méaudre.
