Primel-Trégastel is the most tourist-friendly and safest beach of Plougasnou commune, located ~3km NW of the village. A 600m sandy beach sheltered in a rocky cove — good space for kite, naturally protected from the biggest swell. The most accessible beach of the Plougasnou trio (Terenez, St Jean du Doigt, Primel). Lifeguard post, shower on site.
No permanent kite club on site. Supervised swimming (nageurs-sauveteurs) in summer — coordinate with them for navigation authorisation. Info: onekite.com/topic/15771 (summer 2024 field report).
Intermediate
Open all year round
Navigation regulated in summer with lifeguard presence — possible before 12:00 or after 18:00. Out of season: no restrictions. Left-side channel can be negotiated as entry/exit zone with lifeguards.
Small car park east of beach (5-6 spaces) or larger "Parking de la Manche" behind the lifeguard post (100m walk).
Rocky cove — rocks on both sides, especially to the north toward Pointe de Primel — do not approach. At low tide: rocks exposed on the flanks of the cove, stay in the central sandy channel. In summer: regulations apply — check with lifeguards on the day. Channel on the left side can serve as entry/exit — negotiate with lifeguards.
Ideal wind: N and NNW (side). The N-E quadrant also works well — allows parallel runs along the beach. Summer wind naturally stronger at the exit of the Primel cove. Wind shadow possible in the back of the cove — better conditions offshore.
