Les Trois Pierres is a kitesurf spot on the west (ocean) coast of the Ile d'Oléron, one of the most exposed sections of the island. The beach directly faces the Atlantic with full west and northwest wind exposure. Northwest wind is ideal here. Powerful swell in Atlantic conditions, lighter thermal wind in summer. A beautiful wild beach setting. Intermediate level.
Access by forest path from the parking. The beach is wild and unorganised — self-managed spot. Northwest wind is the ideal angle. Check for rocky sections before launching. Best at mid to low tide.
Open all year round
Open year-round. Best season: May to October. Northwest wind provides the best conditions — pure Atlantic exposure. Wild beach, no services on site.
Intermediate
Atlantic beach break with swell 0.3 to 1.5m in west and northwest conditions. Sandy bottom near shore. Tidal range significant — beach width varies considerably. No rip current infrastructure — assess conditions on arrival.
West and northwest winds give full Atlantic exposure with a long oceanic fetch — clean and powerful. Northwest is the optimal angle for this beach orientation. The west Oléron coast is more exposed than the east coast and picks up swell and wind simultaneously. Summer thermal north and northwest wind gives lighter but consistent sessions.
