Timber is a kitesurfing spot located on the south-west shore of Lake Ellesmere (Te Waihora), in Canterbury. This access point to the lake offers different conditions from Greenpark Huts, with a more favourable exposure to south-west winds. Lake Ellesmere is shallow and offers ideal flat water conditions. The Nor'wester (NE) and south-west winds work well from this side of the lake. The water is shallow and the bottom is muddy. No tides. Spot accessible to beginners and intermediates.
