Lake Clearwater is a kitesurfing spot located in the Canterbury highlands, at 668 metres altitude, at the foot of the Ashburton mountains. This small alpine lake offers a preserved natural setting, far from urban bustle. The prevailing wind is the Nor'wester which descends from the alpine passes with force. Katabatic north-west winds are frequent and can be gusty. The water is cold and the lake is relatively small, limiting the sailing area. No tides. Spot for intermediate to advanced riders accustomed to alpine conditions.
