Crescent Beach Back Bay is the sheltered side of the famous Crescent Beach, on Nova Scotia's south coast near LaHave. While the ocean side of Crescent Beach faces the open Atlantic, the Back Bay offers protected, shallow waters ideal for kitesurfing at all levels. The bay is tidally fed and offers a flat water body contrasting with the ocean conditions on the other side. Picturesque coastal scenery typical of the South Shore.

Beginner
Sheltered bay on the landward side of Crescent Beach. Flat, shallow water at high tide. Sandy bottom. Semi-diurnal tides — at low tide, the bay can drain considerably. Cold Atlantic water (8-16°C). Natural protection from ocean swell. Ideal conditions for freestyle and learning.
Tide-dependent riding — the bay drains at low tide. Tidal currents at the bay entrance. Bottom can become muddy in some areas. Cold water — wetsuit required. Do not confuse with the ocean side which is much more dangerous.
