Nickel Beach is in Port Colborne, at the eastern end of Lake Erie where the Welland Canal meets the lake. The spot faces south toward the lake with a nice sandy beach. The name comes from the former INCO nickel refinery. Popular spot with good fetch from the SW. Easy access with parking and facilities.

Lake Erie fresh water. Flat to choppy. Sandy bottom. Good fetch from the SW across the lake. Warm water in summer (22-26°C). Progressive depth. Waves possible in strong wind.
Proximity to the Welland Canal — cargo traffic possible. Currents at the canal mouth. Swimming zone in summer. Sudden thunderstorms on Lake Erie. Lake can become rough quickly.
