Phaeton Bay is a kitesurfing spot located on the south coast of Tahiti, at the isthmus connecting Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti. The riding area is in the lagoon, protected and flat. East to south-east trade winds are steady and provide consistent kitesurfing conditions.

Coming from Papeete, after Papeari you will find Phaeton Bay. Head to the wharf and turn right - the entire parking area is right at the spot.

Minimum 15 knots wind for good kitesurfing
Two channel markers indicating a port entrance about 300m apart - stay vigilant for possible boat traffic. A sailing school nearby with a well-defined launch area. Outrigger canoe races may occasionally take place, in which case find another spot to kite.
