Overview

Caseville is a kitesurf spot located at the northern tip of Michigan's Thumb, at the junction of Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron. This small resort town, famous for its annual Cheeseburger Festival, offers access to open waters with good wind exposure from multiple directions. The position at the Thumb's tip captures winds from northwest to northeast. Sandy beach with wave conditions in north winds.

Water body at the junction of Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron. North to northeast winds generate waves of 1 to 1.5 meters with good fetch. Multiple exposure thanks to the Thumb tip position. Cold water — full wetsuit required except in midsummer. Sandy bottom. Saginaw Bay offers calmer conditions, while the Lake Huron side is more exposed.

Currents possible at the Thumb tip where Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron waters meet. Cold water with hypothermia risk. Shoals and sandbars possible. Recreational boat traffic in summer. Violent thunderstorms possible with lightning risk — exit water immediately. Commercial shipping offshore on Lake Huron.
