Deer Creek is a kitesurf spot on Deer Creek Reservoir, a mountain lake at 1,647m elevation in Provo Canyon between Heber City and Provo. This 12 km² lake offers a spectacular setting surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains. Thermal winds funnel through the canyon in the afternoon. Clear, cold mountain water. Deer Creek State Park features beaches and amenities. Season from May to October.

Clear mountain freshwater. Water temperature from 2°C in winter (frozen) to 20°C in summer. Canyon lake with good fetch. Rocky to sandy bottom. Variable chop in the canyon. Full 4/3 wetsuit minimum, 5/3 recommended in spring/fall. Elevation 1,647m.
Canyon thermal winds can increase abruptly with gusts. Cold water — hypothermia possible. Mountain thunderstorms with lightning. Heavy motorboat traffic in summer. Rocks along shoreline. State Park entrance fee.
