South River Road / DNR Boat Launch is a kitesurf spot located on Lake St. Clair, in southeastern Michigan. Lake St. Clair, connected to Lake Huron by the St. Clair River and to Lake Erie by the Detroit River, is a shallow lake of approximately 1,100 km². This spot offers access from a DNR boat launch. The shallow lake warms quickly in summer and offers flat water conditions with short chop in sustained winds.
Lake St. Clair water body, very shallow (average depth of 3 meters). Waves remain short and choppy even in strong winds due to the shallow depth. Water warms quickly in summer, allowing riding in a shorty from June to September. Sandy and muddy bottom. The lake offers a vast riding area despite its shallow depth.

Very shallow lake — risk of hitting the bottom during falls. Very heavy boat traffic in summer — Lake St. Clair is one of Michigan's busiest water bodies. Commercial shipping channel crossing the lake — never cross it. Violent thunderstorms possible with lightning risk. Water can be turbid with reduced visibility. Current from the St. Clair River in the northern part of the lake.
