Spot de Gunn Road / Red River Floodway

Gunn Road / Red River Floodway

Gunn Road / Red River Floodway

Overview

Gunn Road is an access point to the Red River Floodway, located northeast of Winnipeg. This 47 km channel, nicknamed "Duff's Ditch," was built in the 1960s to protect Winnipeg from flooding. When the channel is not in operation, the vast adjacent flood plains offer flat terrain exposed to prairie winds, ideal for land kiting or riding on residual shallow waters.
