Snake River Slick is a kitesurf spot on a calm section of the Snake River in the high desert of southern Idaho. This river spot offers a smooth ("slick") surface sheltered from the main current. Consistent afternoon thermal winds channeled by the Snake River canyon. Wild desert setting with basalt cliffs. Season from May to October.
Snake River freshwater. Water temperature from 5°C in spring to 21°C in summer. Calm river section with flat surface. Rocky (basalt) bottom. Weak current in this section but beware of strong current zones nearby. Full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall, shorty in summer.
