McGregor Lake Kite Beach is a kitesurfing spot on McGregor Reservoir, south of Calgary, at 872 m altitude. This irrigation reservoir is a favorite among Calgary-area kitesurfers.
McGregor Lake is an elongated reservoir of about 10 km, located in the prairies of southern Alberta. It regularly receives Chinook winds and southwest prairie winds. "Kite Beach" is the main launch site with easy access. Shallow and warm water in summer. Season from May to October. About 1 hour south of Calgary.
Shallow irrigation reservoir. Warm fresh water (18-22°C in summer). Muddy bottom. Short prairie lake chop. The elongated reservoir channels dominant winds. Good sailing space. Variable water level depending on irrigation.

Chinook winds can be very strong. Variable water level — can be very low in late summer. Prairie thunderstorms with lightning. Shallow bottom. No natural shelter. Fishing and recreational boats possible.
