Eskazoni is a spot on Bras d'Or Lake in Cape Breton, in the Mi'kmaq community of Eskasoni — the largest First Nations community in the Atlantic provinces. Bras d'Or Lake is a unique inland saltwater lake, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This vast water body (1,099 km²) offers considerable fetch and varied riding conditions. The saltwater but ocean-swell-sheltered water creates an ideal playground.
Inland saltwater lake (Bras d'Or). Flat to moderately choppy water depending on wind — no ocean swell. Fetch reaching 20-30 km depending on direction. Variable bottom — sandy, rocky and muddy. Cold water (8-18°C in summer). Very weak tides (nearly enclosed lake).

Submerged rocks in some lake areas. Cold water requiring wetsuit. Summer thunderstorms possible. Respect the Mi'kmaq community of Eskasoni and their lands — ask permission before accessing the spot. Boat traffic.
