Seneca State Beach is located on the shores of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region, at 148 m elevation. Seneca Lake is the deepest of the Finger Lakes and offers a good water body for kitesurfing. The lake is long and narrow, oriented north-south, channeling winds along the lake axis.

Fresh waters of Seneca Lake. Fetch along the north-south lake axis. Moderate chop. Deep water (very deep lake). Rocky and sandy bottom. Cold water due to depth.
Very cold waters even in summer due to lake depth. Winds can be channeled and irregular. Boat traffic. Sudden thunderstorms possible.
