Bovbjerg is a spectacular spot on the west coast of Jutland, dominated by the Bovbjerg lighthouse (Bovbjerg Fyr) and its 41 m high clay cliffs. Advanced spot with powerful North Sea wave conditions. This section of coast, historically called the "Iron Coast" (Jernkysten) due to frequent shipwrecks, is one of Denmark's most exposed. Groynes (breakwaters) along the coast.
Powerful North Sea waves over sandy bottom. Consistent swell in westerly winds. Violent shore break at the base of the cliffs. Dangerous currents along the coast and around groynes. Cold water year-round (8-18°C) — full wetsuit mandatory.
