Gedser is Denmark's southernmost point, at the tip of Falster. Thanks to its cape geography, the spot works with almost all wind directions — you can ride on the east or west side depending on the wind. The offshore Rødsand sandbank creates distinct zones: flat water on the inner side and reliable waves on the outer side. Best wave spot on Falster.
Chop, small to medium waves. Best waves arrive after several days of southerly wind driving swell from Poland. The Rødsand bank allows waves and flat water at the same time. No tidal influence.
Intermediate
Open all year round
Many wave breakers (groynes) on the SW-facing coast. Stones in the water and on the beach. Strong current in the navigation channel near the ferry port. Seal colony at Rødsand — access restricted from 1 March to 30 September (breeding period).
