Klitgårds Fiskerleje is a spot on the south shore of Nibe Bredning, in the Limfjord, about 5 km north of the town of Nibe and 12 km west of Aalborg. Former fishing place converted to a riding spot. Shallow and sheltered fjord waters, ideal for intermediate levels. NOTE: this is NOT a North Sea spot despite its geographic position — it is a fjord spot.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Shallow Limfjord waters (Nibe Bredning), average depth 50 cm near shore to 3-4 m in the bredning. Sandy and muddy bottom with mussel banks and eelgrass beds. Flat to choppy conditions depending on wind and fetch. Sheltered riding area.
Very shallow waters near shore (50 cm average) — risk of bottom contact during falls. Mussel banks and eelgrass beds that can interfere with riding. Limited rescue access in some areas. The fjord can freeze over in winter.
